In 2016 I quit my job of 15 years to hike the Appalachian trail. I was burned out, I weighed over 350 pounds and I was just unhappy. My hike took me 700 miles from Georgia to West Virginia and it was the best and worst decision I've ever made in my life. The journey showed me how great life can really be if you have the courage to do what makes you happy. It was also the most physically and mentally challenging endeavor I have ever faced. With those challenges came a strong desire to overcome them. I conquered this challenge with a slow and steady pace, a strong will, and a renewal of faith. Allowing Jesus to be a part of my life was jump started with daily prayers being answered for the gift of desire and stamina to continue day after day. Let's just say climbing mountains and 350 pound guys don't go hand in hand.
After leaving the trail I was down to 300 pounds and felt good. By the end of 2018 I was back up to 350 pounds. So starting in January I decided to lose the weight I needed to get healthy and feel good about my self. At the end of 2019 I was down 100 pounds and felt better than I think I ever had. The amount of sacrifice, determination, and mental fortitude it took to accomplish this still surprises me. So I'm feeling good mentally, physically, and spiritually but something is still missing. I needed to get back to doing what you love. As I thought, I knew that ever since I could remember, I have loved working with wood. The smell, the sawdust, the tools, and the challenge of turning lumber into amazing pieces. Unfortunately, life happens and sometimes take you away from your passion. Fortunately, a pandemic hit to help bring it back to the surface.
In the middle of 2020 I decided to dust off my tools and start creating again. My tools were not new but they let me design, measure, cut, and assemble. Since then I have upgraded my tool arsenal and more importantly my skills. I am always striving to learn and try new techniques for designing, creating , and building and I am always working towards perfecting my craft. I have such a passion for this trade and put my heart and soul into ever piece I make. The look of joy on the face of my customers is almost payment enough...Almost. I hope I have the opportunity to create for you, Thanks for stopping by, and go with God.
